NUMBER EIGHT - "S.E.R.E."

$85.00

"The Weapon & the Tool"

The No.8 was created to best meet the acronym S.E.R.E.

Survival
Evasion
Resistance
Escape

The basic idea was to have a rustic and versatile knife capable of performing effectively as a "weapon" in close combat situations, and as a "tool" for various tasks in outdoor environments.

For this, we needed a robust knife, hence the choice of a "full tang" construction.

We chose 1095 steel, combined with an appropriate heat treatment to optimize ease of sharpening in the field and to provide resiliency to lateral stresses that a blade may endure during intensive use.

The SERE features a "double guard”: in our vision of an operational combat knife, it is a fundamental anatomical characteristic. Most daggers and combat knives used in different historical and modern conflicts possess this anatomical feature, simply to protect the hand of the fighter in real and degraded situations. We opted for a double guard, but with proportions small enough to ensure optimal implementation under stress and to avoid it catching on equipment or clothing.

The handle scales are made of G10 for strength, resistance to temperature variations and humidity. This also makes the scales impervious to any biotope: from mountains to jungles. Our handle scales have a satin finish for better grip and anti-reflective appearance. The choice of OD Green allows for a discreet color suitable for most forest areas: ”what is lost to you is also lost to the enemy." If you want a visual marking outside of operational context, you can attach a brightly colored lanyard to the knife's pommel.

The assembly is done with two conical tubular Torx screws, allowing for various mounting options with a simple lanyard to secure the knife to the hand.

We chose a ”Saber Grind" for versatility. The tip is of "Bowie" style for penetration power. The steel finish is "Dark Stonewash" for discretion.

Like all the sheaths in the Station IX catalogue, it is made of Kydex. For this model, we chose a "Sandwich" type sheath with multiple holes and windows all around. This allows our armed professional customers to equip it with most of the fastening systems available on the market and to attach the SERE to their personal equipment.

The S.E.R.E. is currently being carried by French Special Forces Operators.
